As a lifelong Winona area resident, I know how special our community is.

I grew up here, my wife and I have raised our kids here, and I’m proud to have served the community on the city council.

As I look at the last legislative session, I’m concerned about the consequences that come with billions in tax increases and new mandates for our schools and businesses. As a border community, I know these policies have put our local economy at risk.

I want to make sure the Winona area remains one of the true gems of Minnesota that we all know and love, and I believe that it’s time for a fresh perspective! I am a hard worker. I am organized, disciplined and committed. I will work to bring more balance to state government.

Let’s work together to make Minnesota a better place for all who live here…

Education

Minnesota’s school system used to be the envy of the entire nation. Now, our teachers are hampered by mandates, and we are dropping in the state rankings. Our children are struggling to read and do basic math. We are failing to protect our most precious commodity: our children.

Let’s work with our teachers and families to bring excellence back to our Minnesota school system.

The Economy

How do you budget your expenses? Some people pull out spreadsheets or fancy apps. My wife and I do it on paper. Regardless of how we all budget our expenses, we make sure we don’t spend more than we have.

That’s not how they do it in St. Paul. They keep spending our money, and they don’t give the surplus back to us–they just find ways to spend more. It’s infuriating because we could all use that extra money (hello, inflation). Let’s bring fiscal responsibility back to St. Paul.

Public Safety

When the news reports rising crime rates, they talk about large metropolitan areas like Chicago, L.A., or even the Twin Cities. The truth of the matter is that crime is rising in Winona County. Opioid-related crimes. Assaults. Larcenies and burglaries.

As a Winona County Bailiff, I have seen first-hand how crime can devastate our community. Let’s quit hampering our law enforcement officials so they can do what they do best: protect our community. And then let’s prosecute criminals so our state is safe for everyone.

Welcome to Winona County and Minnesota House District 26A

Some people call it the Driftless Region. Others call it God’s Country, I call it home. So do more than 42,000 people in District 26A.

Look around this beautiful place and you’ll see rolling bluffs. You’ll see towns and farms sitting boldly on top of ridges or tucked into the valleys. You’ll see streams and rivers, and one mighty big river on the eastern border.

Look a little closer and you’ll see the people of southeastern Minnesota. People who know how to work hard and whose ingenuity has created diverse and thriving businesses. People who recognize that our children are our future and so they value education. People who enjoy the great outdoors and the arts. People whose faith is as strong as the church steeples on the bluff ridge tops.

House District 26A includes most of Winona county, including: Dakota, Dresbach Township, Fremont Township, Goodview, Hart Township, Hillsdale Township, Homer Township, portions of LaCrescent, Lewiston, Minnesota City, New Hartford Township, Pleasant Hill Township, Richmond Township, Rollingstone, Rollingstone Township, Stockton, Utica Township, Warren Township, Wilson Township, Winona, Wiscoy Township.
